Bess Jankowski resides in a blissfully anonymous highrise — nestled in between Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen, the Fur District, and the Studio/Rehearsal District, in what she is trying to rebrand the “Gotham” neighborhood of New York City — where nobody knows their neighbors and all is right with the world.

By day she pushes papers in the Foreign Rights department of a giant book publishing conglomerate, and by night she dabbles in attempted running, knitting, guitar-playing, beer-drinking (RIP), wine-guzzling, olde-tyme radio-listening, and of late? Treadmilling and experimental cooking.

She recently quit Facebook and is trying to reinvent herself. Currently, she is trying to learn a Smokey Robinson tune on her ukulele. Yeah, that’s right: a Smokey Robinson tune. On her ukulele. What of it?
